Christmas on the Square presented by Mediacom
​A community celebration with food, Christmas carols, and lighting the courthouse square on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving.

100-Mile Sale
The 100-Mile Sale route begins in Walnut Grove, MO, and follows Hwy 39 through several towns in Southwest Missouri. Last Saturday in August.

Spring and Fall Citywide Garage Sales hosted twice per year in Spring and Fall. People come from neighboring towns to get a good deal, so be sure to start out early on your hunt! Please see our calendar for the dates in April and September! 
​Red, White & Boom is Mt. Vernon's annual July 4th celebration. Held in the Spirit of '76 Park on the Friday before July 4th, you can find friends and neighbors gathering for games, live music, food, swimming and a fireworks show. And it's free to attend!
100-Mile Garage Sale hosted annually the last Saturday in August, this huge regional garage sale stretches for 100 miles through Southwest Missouri.
